posting this after a night shift so forgive the rambling. tom and i sold our 2014 Jayco travel trailer in august after too many weekends of backing it into coast sites in the rain and decided we wanted something we could just drive. a Sprinter Class C, small enough for the oregon coast state parks and enough range to make glacier next summer without the truck and trailer dance.
we wanted a View or a Navion in the 24D floor plan, because the murphy bed and the dry bath work for two people and the 3.0 V6 diesel gets real mileage. the 2021 and 2022 ones at the portland dealers were 136 to 140 with 30 to 40k on them, and the one in boise was 138 with two owners and a roof story nobody could explain.
a nurse i work with pointed me at rubiautosales.com because her brother bought a fifth wheel there. they had a 2022 Winnebago View 24D, Sprinter 3500 chassis, 26k miles, one owner, the lithium package, listed at about 118. that is 18 to 22 under the dealers so i assumed something was wrong with it.
called on a day off. the guy answered every question and sent over 90 photos plus a cold start video and the last owners service folder. we still were not wiring six figures off photos so i hired a mobile NRVIA inspector out of their area, about 650 dollars, and the rubi people let him have the coach for a full afternoon with shore power.
his list. one of the two house batteries in the lithium package was holding low voltage, the slide seal on the single slide was dry rotted along the bottom edge, and there was an open Sprinter DEF heater recall the last owner never took in. that was it. no moisture anywhere, roof seams good, chassis clean, and the diesel had no weeping at the oil cooler seals, which vic in here will tell you is the thing to check.
bought it. Rubi Auto Sales did the paperwork and the title came to us in oregon in about a week. we did not have the days off to fly out so we used an RV transport driver rubi put us in touch with and it showed up in eugene 8 days later with the miles logged.
three weeks and about 1,100 miles in, two coast weekends so far, and it is everything the trailer was not. anybody else here running a Class C off the rubi lot? curious how yours turned out and whether that recall was a pain.
