Year one in a 2022 Thor Omni Super C RB34 off rubi, real numbers

since erins View thread got a bunch of us comparing notes i figured id put up our actual numbers on the Omni after a full year. 2022 Thor Omni Super C RB34, Ford F-550 4x4 chassis, 6.7 Power Stroke, TorqShift 10 speed, 12,670 miles when we bought it, one owner. family of five plus a golden, so the bunks and the 12,000 pound tow rating were the whole reason we went Super C. the boat comes with us.

found it on rubiautosales.com in october of last year after months of watching the nashville and louisville lots, where the same year Omnis were 170 to 175 with more miles. the listing was around 149. asked rubi for the service history and they had the ford maintenance printout plus the thor warranty work. we hired an inspector out of their area who spent most of a day on it and he found a chassis battery that tested weak on the load test and a loose bracket on the passenger side awning arm. that was the whole list. no moisture, no delamination on the fiberglass, roof good.

we had it transported to nashville in november and have put a little over 11,000 miles on it since, mostly to the gulf and up into the smokies. here is what it actually cost to own a 2022 Omni Super C for a year, for anyone trying to budget one of these.

Fuel (11,200 miles, about 9.5 mpg, boat behind it half the time)	$4,900

that is the honest year. the tires were my call, the originals were 2021 date codes with plenty of tread, but i tow 8,000 pounds of boat with my kids in the back and i wanted new rubber before the smokies. nothing else broke. the spread against the nashville dealer, 23 grand for a cleaner unit with fewer miles, makes buying off the rubi lot an easy call looking back.

those numbers look right for a 6.7 that gets used. the weak chassis battery and the awning bracket are wear items, not repairs, and the tires were a choice and not a failure, so anyone reading this table should not think the truck nickel and dimed you. it did not.

one add. the 6.7 has two batteries under the hood and they should be replaced as a pair. if you only did the one that failed the load test, the other one is on borrowed time and it will pick a cold morning in the smokies to quit. and keep the fuel filter interval at 15k on the Power Stroke, the CP4 pump is the expensive part on that truck and clean fuel is the only thing that saves it.

a Super C that tows a boat and hauls five people and only needed a battery and a bracket in a year is a unit that was bought right. the roof and the fiberglass checking out is the part that matters, the rest is a saturday. and the insurance line is the one people skip when they budget, glad you put it in the table where the next family will see it.

we bought our Navion off the same site and the paperwork went like yours. for anyone nervous about the online part, the title and the odometer statement came to us in reno in six business days and the VIN matched the first time. Rubi Auto Sales is the second rig we have bought online and the easier of the two. marcus, keep every receipt in that folder, the next buyer will pay for it.

9.5 towing a boat with five people in an F-550 is honestly better than i expected, we get 9 in the Greyhawk empty on the E-450. holly wants me to ask what you paid for the transport, we may go that route next time instead of burning vacation days to fly out. and good numbers overall, those rubi folks seem to be sending out clean units.

UPDATE a few more months and another 4k on the Omni. the only thing to add is vic called it, the second chassis battery quit in february, another 265 and ten minutes with a wrench, and that is the whole list since december. brent, transport was 2,100 flat quoted up front for the run to nashville, which was cheaper than two plane tickets and three days off work.

for anyone finding this while shopping, my whole take is buy a clean unit with a folder and let it work instead of chasing a new payment. rubi auto had the history, told us about the two flaws before we asked, and sent a clean title. that is what i wanted out of the deal and it is why i keep answering the messages about it.
